GGI senior staff have decades of experience leading field investigations for critical facilities world-wide. GGI specialize in utilizing multiple techniques and unique datasets within investigations integrating test borings, mapping, desktop studies, trenches, CPT, geophysical methods and laboratory testing into a iterative 3D geologic model.
Golden Geotechnics was contracted by the MTBM tunnel contractor during construction to provide a multi-phase geologic investigation that included rock core boreholes to accurately characterize the complex lithologies on the site. The investigation was able to show that the conglomerate was an order of magnitude stronger than baselined and abrasivity values four times the baselined value to support the differing site condition claim.
GGI Principal Sean Sundermann was the site investigation program lead and lead field geologist on a multi-phased data acquisition program for the Turkey Peak Dam, a new reservoir on Palo Pinto Creek for Mineral Wells, TX to evaluate geologic conditions identified previously in the dam foundation footprint that could result in foundation sliding failures. Program integrated subsurface exploration, acoustic televiewer, dilatometer testing, deep trenches, geophysics, and PCPT to characterize the foundation footprint, investigate adverse conditions, and provide design inputs. Completed evaluation on abutments providing positive evidence for a lack of deep-seated instability.
