Golden Geotechnics is experienced in completing field investigations to answer targeted questions during the mine permitting, renewal or expansion process, or to evaluate geohazards impacting safety or production. Our investigations and models facilitate a data-driven decision process for our mine clients.
Golden Geotechnics was the project lead for a quarry headwall failure analysis and stabilization to bring the quarry into compliance with multiple permitting agencies. Iterative project at undisclosed location that included field mapping, kinematic analysis, static and pseudostatic planar failure, blasting impacts, and mechanical stabilization. Scope of work also included rockfall modeling and a temporary production bench workplan to allow quarry operations on the production bench to continue.
GGI Principal Sean Sundermann supported the Ralston Quarry outside Golden, CO with completing the required 112c Annual Report for Colorado DRMS. Information collected included mapping extents of disturbances to affected land, new disturbance, and onsite operations. Scope of work also included evaluation of rock mass within the quarry and logging core collected in new extraction areas.
* Project prior to GGI
As part of the mining and reclamation permit application to obtain the 112 permit for the proposed quarry expansion, GGI Principal Sean Sundermann prepared a rock mass characterization and preliminary stability analyses. Scope of work included geologic mapping and incorporation of historic test borings into integrated geologic model, kinematic failure mode analyses, and static and pseudostatic RocPlane modeling. Additional modeling was performed at the request of BLM to maintain a more naturally-erratic slope, with tors of bedrock left to break up the mined slope aesthetically.
